This weekend retreat is an hour's drive from Detroit. It was built in the 1880's and was in need of a lot of work! Though it looked like a wreck the features and bones of the house were very good. We went through major renovations. When we were finished it was the ultimate English country home - replete with English and American antiques, artwork and 7 fireplaces. It felt like a home that was passed down for generations. One of the  special features was a built in a window seat - perfect for watching the horses galloping in the surrounding fields.
